A man driving a stolen car has been charged with ramming a police vehicle, Saskatoon police say.
At about 5:20 p.m. CST Wednesday, police saw a stolen car being driven down 3rd Avenue near Queen Street. Police said the same auto had been involved earlier in a gas-and-dash.
The driver refused to stop for police and slammed into the police car, police said.
When he got out of the vehicle he was shocked with a Taser but managed to briefly escape. He was caught several blocks away.
The officer driving the patrol car wasn't injured in the collision. The suspect was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Charges against the suspect, 43, include evading police, assaulting police officer with a weapon, theft under $5,000 and possession of a stolen vehicle. He also has outstanding warrants for failing to report an accident to police and driving while disqualified.
