Flames seen shooting from roof in serious house fire
The Saskatoon Fire Department battled a house fire for more than an hour Monday evening.
Crews were called to a home on the 1400 block of Avenue C N. at around 6:30 p.m. When they arrived, heavy flames were coming from the rear and roof of the house.
No one was inside the home and no one was injured.
Three pumper trucks, a ladder truck and a heavy rescue truck attacked the fire from the outside before heading inside to finish the job.
Damage is estimated at around $450,000. There was minor damage to two neighbouring houses as well as a garage in the back yard.
Investigators believe the fire was started by cigarettes that weren't properly disposed of.
