A 34-year-old Saskatoon man is facing seven charges, including attempted murder, after a wild chase and confrontation with police last week.

Michael Andrew Arcand is still in hospital recovering from getting shot during the pursuit.

Arcand was supposed to be formally charged this morning at provincial court. But when his name was called, the judge was told that Arcand was still in the hospital "with bullet wounds."

A bench warrant was held and he's not scheduled to appear until Oct. 9.

The charges are outlined on the docket. In addition to attempted murder, he's also facing charges that include making a firearm.

On Sept. 27, police were called with reports that a man was breaking into vehicles downtown. It's alleged that the suspect fired at police with a homemade weapon before taking off on foot.

Officers used a Taser, beanbag gun, service pistol and police dog to get Arcand under arrest.

No bystanders were hurt.
