An employee has been fired at the South East Cornerstone School Division for making personal phone calls totaling $9,844.
The information was released by the province in the first ever report on losses at Saskatchewan school divisions.
The report states the employee repaid $6,000 through a mutual agreement. The division has now put in place a monthly review of phone bills to check for international calls.
The report covered the 2013-2014 school year, and included one other loss.
An employee with the Saskatoon Public School Division was fired after an audit revealed a total of $1,051 missing from petty cash, as well as cash boxes for busing and athletics.
The report said a new policy will be in place to prevent future petty cash thefts from happening across the division.
