4 Mexican citizens arrested in Moose Jaw after working illegally for unlicensed paving company: police
Company operated under mutliple names, including Hortons Paving and Masonry, and Tartans Paving
The Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) says officers took four Mexican nationals into custody for illegally working in the city following an investigation with the Canadian Border Service Agency.
MJPS said it was alerted to an unlicensed paving company operating in Moose Jaw under multiple names, including Hortons Paving and Masonry, and Tartans Paving.
The criminal investigation unit found the paving crew working in the city on Tuesday and discovered the workers did not have the right documentation to work in Canada, police say.
MJPS said the four Mexican citizens were turned over to the Canadian Border Service Agency and arrested. Police have not found the owner of the paving company.
The investigation is ongoing, but police say, "it does not appear this company is responsible for any crimes."
Moose Jaw police say the company was going door-to-door offering driveway services to residents, but used aggressive sales tactics that made them feel uncomfortable. The company also requested clients pay in cash, MJPS said.

Police are reminding residents to be diligent when hiring businesses and say that if something seems suspicious, call the City of Moose Jaw to confirm if the business is licensed.
