Crews in Charlottetown had to deal with a water main that broke Tuesday as a major blizzard swept across the Island.
The main broke at the corner of University Ave and Lincoln St. in the early morning hours. The water flowed from there like a river down towards the Value Village strip mall, before settling on low ground on Queen Street.
The water main broke during a storm that dumped about 67 centimetres of snow in Charlottetown.
With temperatures dropping below -15C, the water created an icy, slushy mess in its path.
The city says the water main break was likely caused by frost, and such breaks are not uncommon in winter.
Because of complications caused by all the snow, the city says it will likely take all day to complete the repair.
