Hozier announced as headliner for P.E.I.'s Sommo Fest in 2025
Festival's 3rd edition will be held Sept. 13 and 14 next year in Cavendish
Irish singer-songwriter Hozier will headline the third Sommo Festival on Prince Edward Island, says the company behind the event.
The food, drink and music festival will run Sept. 13 and 14, 2025, in Cavendish on the Island's North Shore, according to a news release from Whitecap Entertainment on Thursday.
Hozier is an award-winning performer who will be stepping onto the Sommo mainstage for his first Atlantic Canada performance.
"When we asked the fans who they would most like to see in year three, the resounding response was Hozier — and we can't wait for his Sommo debut next summer," Ben Murphy, CEO of Whitecap Entertainment, was quoted as saying in the news release.
With more than 14 billion streams worldwide, Hozier has sold out venues like the Hollywood Bowl and Madison Square Garden, the release notes.
Best known for his 2014 hit Take Me To Church and this year's Too Sweet, Hozier is Grammy-nominated and has won several other major music industry awards.
Sommo Festival was held for the first time in July 2023, then moved to mid-September this year, with organizers planning to stick to that slot.
Whitecap Entertainment also stages the Cavendish Beach Music Festival, a country-focused event, while Sommo is billed as a music and culinary experience.
The organizers said more announcements about the festival will be made in the new year. Tickets are now on sale on the Sommo Festival website.
