For those looking for an indoor activity during the cold winter season, the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre is offering binge boxes. A variety of choices are offered, from full seasons of TV shows to themed collections of movies, like romantic comedies and musicals.

The kids are out of school, the spouse is off work and you're wondering how to keep the family busy. Or maybe you're alone for the holidays — just you, your flannel pyjamas and a big bowl of popcorn.

Either way, the Charlottetown and Summerside libraries have your back.

They are offering binge boxes, filled with films or TV shows that will fill hours of your — or their — time.

"It's just nice to do that whole binge thing, to sit down on the weekend and get your TV or movie fix on," said Beth Clinton, regional librarian with the P.E.I. Public Library Service, as she sifts through one of the boxes.

"Some old favourites, Waitress, a great classic, Roxanne with Steve Martin, you can't go wrong. Bridget Jones's Diary even sucks you in for a Christmas movie."

Each box has four to six DVDs, usually with a similar theme — Oscar winners, rom-coms, war, sports, mystery or musicals. One based on a TV show might have several different seasons. Others are age specific.

Clinton said she borrowed the idea from a library in the United States.

"They were quite popular and they had some super-hilarious names to go with those…. For example, they had one that was Captain Phillips and CastAway and it was 'Don't Travel with Tom Hanks.'"
