OPP investigating 'suspicious' woman posing as support worker in Napanee area

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating two reports of a woman entering a senior's apartment in the Napanee area posing as a personal support worker.

Investigators say a woman wearing matching nurse scrubs entered an apartment at the Smart Villa, a non-profit housing home for seniors, on Feb. 26 around 11 a.m. 

The woman said she was looking for a resident but left when she was told no one by that name lived in the unit, according to police.

She's described as slim, five feet eight inches tall with short dark hair.

Police say another Smart Villa resident came home around 1:30 p.m. that day to find her prescription pain pills missing from her unlocked apartment.

Officers are investigating a similar report that a woman entered an apartment on Centre Street South in Napanee around 5 p.m. on Jan. 26 and told an elderly woman she was sent by a doctor to make sure the woman was taking her pills.

The senior told police the woman told her she was a nurse and left the apartment after looking around.

The suspect is described as five feet four inches tall with sandy blonde hair and a medium build. 

Napanee OPP say it's possible it's the same woman. They believe both cases are related.

Const. Jackie Perry said most seniors know their support workers and having an unknown person enter their apartment isn't common.

Police say they believe there may be more victims who have not reported this "suspicious" woman entering their homes.
