Carleton president to head Canada Foundation for Innovation
Roseann Runte is set to take on new role in August
Departing Carleton University president Roseann Runte is set to take on the role of president and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation in August, the foundation announced Wednesday.
Runte announced her departure from Carleton, effective July 31, 2017, at the university's board meeting on March 23.
The Canada Foundation for Innovation, a federally funded organization, gives money to Canadian universities, colleges, hospitals and non-profit organizations to carry out research.
Runte will succeed Gilles Patry, who has served as the foundation's president since August 2010. Patry was also a former university administrator, having spent many years at the University of Ottawa.
Runte was the first woman to be hired as president and vice-chancellor in Carleton University's history.
"As president and CEO of the CFI, Dr. Runte will work with governments to help strengthen Canada's capacity to do world-class research with state-of-the-art research infrastructure," said Kevin Smith, chair of the CFI's board.
