Confederation Line closed Saturday for work on eastern extension
R1 buses to replace train service, stopping at most LRT stations
R1 buses will replace Confederation Line trains on Saturday, Dec. 14, while work is carried out on the LRT line's eastern extension, OC Transpo says.
The replacement buses will stop at most LRT stations during normal train hours, from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Exceptions are Cyrville station and westbound Lees station. Shuttle buses will take riders between St. Laurent and Cyrville stations, and between Lees and the Mackenzie King Bridge on the south side of the Rideau Centre.
Service will return to a regular schedule on Sunday, OC Transpo said earlier this week.
The full-day closure will allow for "system integration testing of train control software" on the extension from Blair station to Trim Road.
The extension, part of the $4.66-billion Stage 2 project that also expands the system farther south and west, adds 12.5 kilometres and five new stations.
The most recent target for opening the eastern expansion is the summer of 2025, though staff recently said that could be delayed until the end of next year.
