Lucille Collard, Liberals keep hold on Ottawa-Vanier

Ottawa-Vanier has been Liberal since 1971 and is projected to stay that way after their latest electoral win.

Ottawa-Vanier has been Liberal since 1971 and is projected to stay that way after Lucille Collard's latest electoral win.

The riding connects Centretown east to the Greenbelt — specifically, the Rideau Canal to Green's Creek. Its southern border roughly follows highways 417 and 174, with a bonus area south of the 174 down to Blair and Innes roads.

The riding includes the neighbourhoods of ByWard Market and Sandy Hill, Vanier, Rockcliffe, Overbrook and Gloucester.

Nearly one-third of its residents told the 2021 census they mostly speak a language other than English at home.

The riding has been Liberal since 1971.

Returning MPP Lucille Collard, winner of a 2020 byelection and 2022 general election, was previously a federal government lawyer and French public school trustee.

Six candidates ran for the seat.
