Soldiers aid hunt for missing cabbie

The RCMP has called in the army to help solve the disappearance of a Dartmouth taxi driver.

The RCMP has called in the military to help solve the disappearance of a Dartmouth taxi driver.

Sergei Kostin, 40, hasn't been seen or heard from since Saturday.

On Thursday, soldiers joined police investigators at a site in North Preston where a burned-out car believed to be Kostin's was found on Tuesday.

The soldiers erected a large tent so forensic investigators could sift the dirt to look for clues.

"They are very scientific in what they do," said RCMP Cpl. Joe Taplin. "They are the experts in what they're looking for, [and] it's any evidence that could keep the investigation going."

A heating system was set up inside the tent to keep the ground dry.

The wrecked Chevrolet matches the description of Kostin's car. The RCMP said it's believed to be his vehicle, though they haven't confirmed it.

Kostin has been a driver for Bob's Taxi in Dartmouth for about 10 years.
