Nacho cheese is coming back to Scotiabank Centre
Contest launched to win free nachos for each of the remaining Mooseheads games of 2016-17 season
Nacho cheese is now back at Halifax's Scotiabank Centre after it was scrapped from the menu in September.
An announcement was made Saturday on the centre's Facebook page and at the Halifax Mooseheads game.
"I'm glad that it's back. I guess it goes to show that you get behind something, you never know what can happen. They made the right call by bringing it back," said Joey Maxwell, who runs the Herdwell Herald, a blog about the Mooseheads.
'Glad I could help'
Maxwell spoke out against the centre's decision to cut nacho cheese from the menu. He was at the game Saturday night and said a number of people congratulated him once the decision was projected on to the scoreboard.
"It was pretty cool to be in there," Maxwell said. "I'm glad I could help. I know it wasn't just me but I guess I was the one who spoke out."
"I'm kind of hoping that they might provide me with a sample of [the cheese] for free if they can because I kind of spearheaded the whole thing to make it happen."
Cheese pump gone
Robert Logan, the senior director for Scotiabank Centre, said the cheese is available now. Instead of a cheese pump, nacho fans will get an individual portion.
"We certainly heard that people were looking for the cheese and we take our customer feedback very seriously and once we sourced a new supply for the cheese we were able to get it in and now it's there for people to enjoy."
Cheesy contest
The centre launched a contest where fans can name their favourite cheese, for a chance to win one free serving of nachos for each of the remaining games in the 2016-17 season.
Winners will be announced at the Halifax Mooseheads' home game on Sunday, Nov. 20.
"It's early days because we only launched it Saturday night but we thought we could have some fun with it to bring light to the fact cheese was back, so five lucky fans are going to win nachos between now and the end of the season," said Logan.
