The LaHave River cable ferry in Lunenburg County will soon be back in service after it underwent a mandatory refit.

The Brady E. Himmelman ferry was taken out of service on Oct. 1, but it was spotted heading back to Lunenburg County on Wednesday.

Nova Scotia's Department of Public Works told CBC News on Thursday it anticipates the ferry will be back in service some time this week, but it didn't mention a specific date.

The ferry, which operates year-round between LaHave, N.S., and East LaHave, N.S., was taken to Meteghan in Digby County for the refit, which is required by Transport Canada every five years to renew its safety inspection certificate.
