Around 2,600 Nova Scotia Power customers near Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth, N.S., have had their power restored after a power line caught fire Sunday morning and caused an outage.

Drew MacCulloch, district chief for Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency, said crews put out a small fire of a downed line on the front lawn of a house on Sea King Drive after being called there at 8:48 a.m. AT.

MacCulloch said Nova Scotia Power crews came to the site and turned off the power.

The outage was restored around 2 p.m., ahead of Nova Scotia Power's 3 p.m. estimate.

In a statement, the utility said the repair was made more challenging by the makeup of the power pole. It apologized for the inconvenience customers faced.

Mic Mac Mall had to close because of the outage, but it announced Sunday afternoon it would open at 2:30 p.m.
