Dave Wilson has thrown his name in the ring to be the next leader of Nova Scotia's New Democratic Party.
Wilson announced his intentions at a fire hall in Lower Sackville Sunday afternoon.
Wilson, who represents Sackville-Cobequid, was first elected in 2003.
He is a former paramedic.
The NDP has been without a permanent leader since Darrell Dexter quit in Nov. 2013 after a crushing defeat in the provincial election.
Maureen MacDonald has been the acting leader since Dexter's departure.
Gary Burrill, a former MLA, has also announced his plans to run.
