CBC's Short Film Face Off is back this August for four jam-packed episodes featuring some of Canada's best short films. Who will win this year's Face Off? Find out by streaming the series on CBC Gem beginning August 10. You can also watch on CBC TV, Saturdays at  8 p.m. / 8:30 NT.

August 10

Duck Duck Goose
When hiding for your life becomes a frightening game: an elementary school teacher and children cope with the fear and guilt created by lockdown. Director - Shelley Thompson, Nova Scotia.

Tundra
A mother dreams and hallucinates about her daughter, trying to cope with her loss. Director - Carol Nguyen, Toronto/Montreal.

Green Run
Two men miraculously hit every green light on their way home from work. Director - Jeremiah Milmine, Winnipeg.

Q+A
In a chaotic near-future, two people confront a difficult choice. Director - Patrick Whistler, Toronto.

Like Right Now
When a young man gets pulled back in time, he must complete a series of bizarre tasks to fix the past and restore his future. Director - Russell Eresmas, Edmonton/Vancouver.

The Card
A businesswoman loses her credit card at a café just as she is about to secure an important transaction. In her frantic search to find the card, she acts impulsively. Director - Asil Moussa, Windsor, ON.

C Sharp and D Suspended
Margaret gets a day pass from prison to attend her grandson Daniel's classical guitar graduation. Little does she know that Daniel has a plan that could change their lives forever. Director - Tamara Segura, St. John's.

Vessel
Vessel follows two lonely romantics as they go to absurd lengths to be anybody but themselves. Director - Ethan Godel, Toronto.

Post No Bills
On an urban city wall plastered with posters, Noodle Boy must face his fears and make his way through a series of obstacles and challenges in order to save Miss Fortune from the city's clean up crew. Director - Robin Hays, Vancouver. 

August 31

The audience votes for their favourite film and the winner is revealed!

Join host Steve Patterson along with panelists Eli Glasner, Amanda Parris and Mohit Rajhans, who provide commentary and discuss the creative and technical aspects of the films with the filmmakers. This studio panel will choose the three finalists and the viewing audience will ultimately vote for the top film.

The winning film receives the Telefilm Short Film Face Off Award, a cash award of $30,000, along with an in-kind lighting and grip package from William F. White of $15,000 for a prize worth a grand total of $45,000! 

Short Film Face Off is shot and produced at CBC Studio 60 in Halifax, N.S.
