Man arrested after emergency alert issued in Lunenburg County

The Mounties sent out a civil emergency alert about the man early Wednesday afternoon. They said he was arrested less than two hours later.

Nova Scotia RCMP say they have arrested a suspect who was the subject of a civil emergency alert issued Wednesday.

This comes less than two hours after the alert was sent out for residents of Lower Northfield in Lunenburg County, asking them to seek shelter indoors as officers responded to a report of a "dangerous" man who was possibly armed.

The Mounties sent a civil emergency alert just before 1 p.m. AT on Wednesday as they responded to an area near 2275 Northfield Rd.

Police were searching for Richard MacInnis, 44, who was described as being six feet one inch tall and 175 pounds with auburn hair and green eyes.
