Chrisma Ann Joy Denny search continues 2 months after disappearance
Cape Breton woman last seen in September
Friends and family continue to search for Chrisma Ann Joy Denny, a Cape Breton woman missing since Sept. 11.
The First Nations woman was known to roam from reserve to reserve, but her family reported her missing last week after growing increasingly concerned.
Cheryl Maloney of the Nova Scotia Native Women's Association is helping the family. She said Denny grew up in care.
“When they come out of the child welfare system, they don’t have a home to go to,” she said Thursday.
That makes it hard to build a stable life, she said.
“The community and family are rallying around, and the police are doing their jobs. I’ve been encouraging everyone not to send tips to social media, not to send tips to the family. Let the police do their work.”
Denny is five-feet-six-inches tall, 145 pounds and has brown hair and eyes.
Anyone with knowledge about Denny's whereabouts is asked to contact the Cape Breton Regional Police or the RCMP.
