It was business as usual at a Dartmouth restaurant Sunday, hours after a car allegedly driven by an impaired driver crashed through the eatery's fenced-in patio and a brick wall.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a single-vehicle collision at Sam's Seafood and Grill on Saturday at around 11:25 p.m.

The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was arrested at the scene.

The car crashed through the wall of a storage room at the restaurant. On Sunday, a gaping hole could be seen in the side of the building, while yellow caution tape cordoned off an outside area strewn with bricks, wood, insulation and broken car parts.

"He drove straight down and he just hit my building," said Sam Sotiropoulos, the owner of the restaurant located at 10 Gordon Ave.

Sotiropoulos said he leases the property. The damage was not expected to affect business, he said.

A 21-year-old man faces two charges related to alcohol-impaired driving in connection with the crash. He is set to appear in Dartmouth provincial court at a later date.
