Yellowknife's A&W is set to close its doors at the end of December.

"This decision comes after much consideration and reflection on the challenges facing our operations," wrote owners Todd Stewart and Randy Caines in a statement Monday posted to the franchise's Facebook page.

"Serving the people of Yellowknife has been an honour, and we are deeply grateful for your support and patronage."

The fast food joint has long been a staple of downtown Yellowknife and has operated under its current management since 2010.

It went up for sale in March 2023, according to Cabin Radio.

The owners thanked their team of workers and customers "who have made these years memorable."

"While this marks the end of our journey at A&W Yellowknife, we carry forward the friendships and connections made here with pride and gratitude," they wrote.
