A woman was in critical condition following a collision on the Alaska Highway during Monday rush hour.
Whitehorse RCMP say the collision happened near the intersection with Sumanik Drive, at around 5:15 p.m.
Witnesses told police a Saturn, travelling south on the highway, hit the driver's side of a Chevrolet mini-van. Both drivers are from the Whitehorse area.
Police say firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate the 49-year-old woman driving the mini-van.
Both drivers were taken to Whitehorse General Hospital. Police say the mini-van driver was in critical condition and has been medevaced to Vancouver.
Police did not know the condition of the 29-year-old driver of the Saturn.
Police say drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
