Woman found dead in Iqaluit home

A house in Iqaluit remains cordoned off Monday as police investigate what they say is the suspicious death of a woman there.

Officers found the body of Daisy Curley, 33, on the floor of House 1631 in the city's Happy Valley area at about 2 p.m. ET Sunday.

Forensic identification specialists from Alberta RCMP arrived in the city Monday to help local police with the investigation.

"They will be conducting their investigation in conjunction with Iqaluit RCMP detachment and the general investigation section," Staff Sgt. Allan Hearn told CBC News on Monday.

"They will also determine whether or not we require blood-splatter analysis."

The area around the house has been taped off since Sunday, and will remain closed to public access until the investigation is complete.

Hearn says no cause of death has been determined.

RCMP are urging anyone with information about Curley's death to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
