Residents head to polls for hamlet elections in 10 N.W.T. communities

Elections for mayor and council are happening Monday in several N.W.T. communities.

Hamlet elections are taking place in 10 communties across the Northwest Territories on Monday. 

In Aklavik, three councillors up for elections have all been acclaimed for a two-year term: Shirley Koe, Richard Storr and William (Billy) Storr. 

In Enterprise, Mayor Mike St. Amour has been acclaimed, while seven people are running for four council seats:

  • Lorne Poitras
  • Angeline Villebrun

Derwin Kotchea has been acclaimed as Fort Liard's mayor and seven people are running for six council seats:

  • Shayla McLeod 
  • Kristina Powder 
  • Gregory Wilson 

In Fort McPherson, Mayor Rebecca Blake has been acclaimed. 

In Fort Providence, residents will chose between two candidates for mayor: Danny Beaulieu and Ronald Bonnetrouge. 

Nine people are running for four council seats in Fort Providence:

In Sachs Harbour, four people are running for mayor:

Five people are running for three council seats in Sachs Harbour:

Tsiigehtchic has three people running for mayor:

Polls are open in most communities until 7 p.m. on Monday.
