A pilot and one passenger were rescued from the bush after a small plane crashed near Faro, Yukon, on Sunday.

Yukon RCMP say they received an SOS signal from an aircraft and called in air rescue assistance from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) in Victoria Sunday afternoon.

Second Lt. Charles Paradis from the JRCC said the U.S. Air Force Rescue Coordination Center sent one C-130 Hercules and one Pave Hawk helicopter, plus personnel from the Alaska National Guard to help with the rescue.

Paradis said both occupants in the crashed plane were sent to the Whitehorse hospital.

There's no word on any injuries. The names of the plane's occupants haven't been released.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is also investigating the incident.
