A man from Fort McPherson, N.W.T., has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with a house fire that killed a young woman in the community in 2023.

Randall Blake entered his plea on Feb. 3.

After the fire in December 2023, Blake was originally charged with arson. The charge of manslaughter was laid after the remains of a 22-year-old woman, believed to be Clara Blake, were found inside the home.

Randall Blake's lawyers appeared in court Monday to discuss a sentencing date. The sentencing hearing will be held in Fort McPherson either in mid-June or late July.
