Six men face drugs and weapons charges following the execution of four search warrants in the Yellowknife area Wednesday.
RCMP conducted searches of a Fred Henne territorial park campsite, a downtown apartment and two vehicles, all on the evening of May 31. Approximately 170 grams of cocaine, 445 grams of marijuana, $20,000 cash and a shotgun were seized, along with other items.
The six people arrested are charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of a firearm, and the possession of the proceeds of crime exceeding $5000.
"We believe this group is part of a larger drug trafficking network based out of Edmonton, Alberta, and that they recently set up shop in Yellowknife, after a hiatus of several years," said G Division Federal Investigations Unit Sgt. Dean Riou in a statement.
Riou said the arrests followed a two-week investigation.
All six men are in custody and scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 5.
