50 years of CBC Radio in Iqaluit
CBC Radio in Iqaluit celebrates its 50th anniversary. CFFB hit the airwaves on Feb. 6, 1961.
On Feb. 6, 1961, the CBC's Northern Service started broadcasting on CFFB, in what was then known as Frobisher Bay, N.W.T., in Canada's eastern Arctic.
Frobisher Bay is now known as Iqaluit, the capital city of Nunavut. CBC Radio One continues to broadcast from Iqaluit today, providing audiences across Nunavut with programming in English and Inuktitut.
The following 50th anniversary audio clips are from Qulliq, CBC Radio's morning show in Iqaluit, on Feb. 7, 2011.
