2 men charged in fatal stabbing of Sackville man

Two men are to appear in Moncton provincial court on Tuesday after being charged with second-degree murder in the death of a Sackville man over the weekend.

Sackville RCMP responded Saturday night to a report of a stabbing outside a business on Lorne Street. When they arrived at about 7:45 p.m., they found a man lying on the side of the road.

He'd been stabbed and died later in hospital, police said in a news release.

RCMP later identified the victim as 44-year-old Shawn Mitton.

Police later arrested 22-year-old Tyler Murphy and 20-year-old Dylan Murphy at a Sackville residence.

On Sunday, the two men appeared in Moncton court through tele-remand and were each charged with second-degree murder, RCMP said.

They are in custody, and will return to Moncton court on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
