A 36-year old Moncton man has been arrested after a marked RCMP vehicle was stolen from Sackville, N.B., and driven to Nova Scotia.

New Brunswick RCMP officers responded at around 2:30 p.m. on Friday to a theft report from Wright Street.

RCMP Sgt. Pierre-Luc Hache said the vehicle fled onto the highway and into Nova Scotia.

Highway 104 near Amherst was closed both ways around 3 p.m. during the police operation.

He said officers used a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle.

The Nova Scotia RCMP also assisted in the operation and two police officers suffered minor injuries during the arrest, according to Hache. He would not say if the officers were from Nova Scotia or New Brunswick.

Police did not provide any further detail about the man arrested or the circumstances under which the vehicle was stolen. They would also not say if the driver of the stolen police car was injured.

An investigation in underway, Hache said.
