4th person pleads guilty to manslaughter in Moncton teen's 2022 death
Hunter England released pending sentencing in mid-October
A fourth person has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of a Moncton teen two years ago.
Hunter Nash England, 22, has admitted his role in the April 25, 2022, death of 18-year-old Joedin Lloyd Leger.
The details of what he admitted cannot be reported because of a publication ban. The ban was imposed to protect the upcoming jury trial of another man charged in connection with Leger's death.
England was set to also stand trial, but changed his plea Tuesday afternoon in Moncton's Court of King's Bench.
Justice Maya Hamou agreed with a request from defence and Crown prosecutors to allow England to be released on various conditions pending sentencing.
His sentencing hearing has been set for Oct. 17.
England was among six people charged after Leger's death.
Three others also pleaded guilty to manslaughter over the past year and have already been sentenced.
Riley Phillips faces a charge of second-degree murder. England's brother, Jerek England, is scheduled to be tried on a manslaughter charge in 2026.
