Provincial police major crimes specialty team called to investigate

A young mother and her two infant children are dead following a house fire in the northern Quebec community of Chisasibi on Wednesday morning.
In a news release on Thursday, the Eeyou Eenou Police Force said officers arrived on scene to see that individuals had escaped from the house with minor injuries.
Regional police and provincial police secured the area and tried to contain the fire.
Three people were unaccounted for and the local police force called the Sûreté du Québec major crimes team to investigate and recover the remains.
The Council of the Cree Nation of Chisasibi said it is with "heavy hearts" that they mourn the young woman and her "two precious babies."
"This devastating incident has left us in a state of shock and grief so immense," read the council's statement, posted on Facebook.
"They will never be forgotten. They will always be loved."
The cause of the fire is unclear.
The Chisasibi council encouraged anyone affected by the incident to reach out to support workers, family members and help lines.
