Man dies after kayak flips over near Donnacona

The man was kayaking with a group of people in the Rivière aux Pommes before the kayak capsized.

A man in his 40s died after the kayak he was in capsized near Donnacona, about 45 kilometres west of Quebec City, on Tuesday afternoon.

He was kayaking with a group of people in the Rivière aux Pommes at the time.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) was called to intervene a little after 4 p.m., on Colonie Road, near the river.

The man was found unconscious and was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said SQ spokesperson Ève Brochu-Joubert.

A SQ investigator is looking into the case to clarify the causes and circumstances of the death.
