Man charged with 2nd-degree murder after woman's body found in Lachute, Que., home

A 36-year-old man is facing second-degree murder charges after a woman's body was discovered Friday inside a home in Lachute, Que., located roughly 80 kilometres northwest of Montreal.

A 36-year-old man is facing second-degree murder charges after a woman's body was discovered Friday inside a home in Lachute, Que., located roughly 80 kilometres northwest of Montreal.

Mathieu Mc Claren, 36, appeared in court on Saturday in connection with the woman's death. 

Emergency services were first called to intervene on St-Exupéry Street at around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, where they arrested a man who was on private property that was not his.

Sûreté du Québec spokesperson, Jean-Raphaël Drolet, said officers quickly made their way to another residence on the same street, where the woman's lifeless body was discovered.

She was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Sûreté du Québec is leading the investigation.
