2 men sought in Montreal café firebombing
A Molotov cocktail was thrown into Café Ferrari on André-Ampère Avenue in Rivière-des-Prairies, the latest in a string of arson attempts targeting cafés and bars across the island.
Police Friday identified Mickendy Démosthène, 18, as a suspect in the case.
Démosthène is described as being five feet 10 inches tall and 154 pounds.
The second suspect has not been identified but is described as a black man in his early 20s of medium height and build, with a diamond stud in his right ear.
"These two suspects are linked to the Nov. 24 event," said Montreal police spokesperson Sgt. Anie Lemieux. "It's possible they're linked to the other events that are similar, but then again, nothing is confirmed. So yes, it is possible there are other suspects involved in these cases."
Lemieux said police are still investigating 12 similar attacks. Police believe the perpetrators of the attacks have ties to street gangs, and that the firebomb campaign is gang-related.
