Winnipeg police, RCMP mourn loss of Const. David Wynn
Dozens of memorial services held across Canada Monday to honour fatally wounded constable
Winnipeg police and RCMP gathered on Monday to mourn the loss of Const. David Wynn, an officer who was recently killed in the line of duty northwest of Edmonton.
Wynn was shot in the head when he and Const. Derek Bond entered a casino in St. Albert, Alta. Jan. 17.
The two constables confronted a man about a suspected stolen vehicle, which led to the violent incident that left Wynn fatally injured and Bond with gunshot wounds to the torso and arm.

Constable Paul Human, a spokesperson for the RCMP in Winnipeg, said the death of Wynn touched the entire service.
"We're all a family and this is our way of ... it's just a very short tribute, but it's our way of saying we remember, we sympathize with the family and we're gonna carry on — one member short, but we're going to carry on," he said.
The Winnipeg event was held at the same time as many other similar memorial services across Canada.
A book of condolences for Wynn’s family is available for the public to sign until Tuesday morning inside the RCMP Portage Avenue headquarters. The building will be open all night.
