Winnipeg police learn identity of hit and run victim, looking for suspect
Emergency crews found the victim unconscious near Winnipeg's Inkster Boulevard and Bunting Street
Winnipeg police have learned the identity of a young man they suspect is the victim of a hit and run, and are now looking for a suspect.
Emergency crews found the man unconscious near Winnipeg's Inkster Boulevard and Bunting Street around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.
On Sunday morning, he was still in the hospital in critical condition, and unidentified. According to police, the man's family came forward and identified him.
Const. Eric Hofley of the Winnipeg Police Service says investigators are looking for the driver who hit the young man.
"Literally, we have no information regarding the vehicle itself," he said.
"Other than just, you know, evidence at the scene leads investigators to believe that there would be substantial damage to the windshield of whatever vehicle was involved."
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6271 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
