Winnipeg quarterback Matt Nichols will make his return to the starting lineup Saturday when the Blue Bombers host the B.C. Lions.

The Bombers made the announcement Thursday on their Twitter account.

Nichols suffered a right knee injury June 6 in training camp and missed Winnipeg's first three games of the season.

Rookie quarterback Chris Streveler filled in admirably in Nichols's absence. While Winnipeg is tied for last place in the West Division at 1-2, Streveler was named one of the CFL's top performers in Week 2 when he threw three touchdown passes and ran for another in a 56-10 rout of Montreal.

The 31-year-old Nichols had a breakout season last year, passing for 4,472 yards and 28 touchdowns while leading the Bombers to a 12-6 record. He was named the team's most valuable player for 2017.
