Monday, Winnipeg police trolling in their chopper got caught around a hot mic but they aren't the first to make this gaffe. Here are some of the other more memorable #whoops moments.

Winnipeg police are hardly the 1st to be surprised by mics that have had the switch flipped on

Winnipeg police on the city's Air-1 helicopter got caught on their PA system with some lewd comments they did not know they were broadcasting to the city below. 

But Winnipeg officers are hardly the first to make a gaffe with a hot microphone nearby, here are five other moments where people wished they had known the world was listening. 

1. A Wisconsin basketball player, Nigel Hayes, gets caught on an open mic at an NCAA press conference, giving away a little bit more than he would have liked to. 

2. With cameras and microphones rolling in news studios constantly, there are bound to be some on-air moments that were never supposed to make it out of the newsroom, including this one that aired on Australian televisions. 

3. In 1984, at the height of the Cold War, U.S. President Ronald Reagan was about to appear on a radio interview and for his soundcheck, he decided to go a little off script. 

4. In more recent American political #whoops moments, in 2000, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney were overheard saying less than flattering comments about a reporter from the New York Times, Adam Clymer.

5. A serious discussion about antibiotic-resistant diseases at a city council meeting in Georgetown, Texas, turns considerably lighter when the mayor forgets to turn off his microphone after excusing himself.
