Police have released a composite sketch in an attempt to identify the man who allegedly tried to abduct an eight-year-old girl near her school in northern Manitoba late last month.

Police have released a composite sketch in an attempt to identify the man who allegedly tried to abduct an eight-year-old girl near her school in northern Manitoba late last month.

The stranger offered the girl a ride to her school while she was walking in the morning in Tataskweyak Cree Nation, also known as Split Lake, police said in a previous news release.

The girl got away uninjured and made it to school safely, police said.

The man was driving a dirty white van that had previously been seen driving by the TCN Gas Bar in the community more than 700 kilometres north of Winnipeg.

Split Lake RCMP ask anyone who can help identify the man to call 204-778-3050.
