RCMP ask public for information on fatal February house fire in Pinaymootang First Nation
RCMP confirmed human remains had been found in the rubble at a house days after fire on Feb. 7

Manitoba RCMP ask the public to share any information they have related to a fatal fire in Pinaymootang First Nation last month.
The RCMP's major crime services unit have interviewed many people in the community, located 217 kilometres north of Winnipeg, after human remains were found in the rubble of a house that burned just off Highway 6, an updated release said on Monday.
Mounties were called to the house around 8:25 p.m. on Feb. 7 and observed it was fully engulfed in flames and later completely destroyed by the fire.
Clifford Anderson, a resident in the community, told RCMP he believed a young adult man, the foster son to his sister-in-law, was living in the home at the time. An RCMP officer told him police had already searched the home and didn't find anyone.
Anderson previously told CBC he and his brother returned to the scene two days later and searched through the rubble. They found bones sticking out of the ash and alerted RCMP who later confirmed it was human remains.
Mounties said the cause of the fire remains unknown and are continuing to investigate what happened to the person who died, the release said.
Sgt. James Demidiuk believes someone has "crucial information" that can assist with the investigation and help provide closure to the family.
"Getting answers for the community is our top priority right now and we are hoping to do that," Demidiuk said in the release.
RCMP major crime services would like to speak with anyone who may have been in the area of the fire between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. RCMP ask anyone with information to call the RCMP tip line at 431-489-8551.
