A 33-year-old man accused of shooting another person at an Osborne Village lounge last month has been arrested, and the owner of the lounge faces an obstruction charge in connection with the incident, Winnipeg police say.

Police previously said they were called to a lounge on the 100 block of Osborne Street, between Stradbrook and River avenues, with a report of a shooting around 4:20 a.m. on Feb. 6.

They found a 29-year-old man inside, suffering from a gunshot wound, and gave him emergency medical care. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition but later upgraded to stable condition.

Police were seen going into and out of the Moonlight Lounge on Osborne Street later on the day of the shooting.

In an update Thursday, police said their investigation found multiple patrons were at the lounge after hours early on Feb. 6 when an argument ensued and then turned physical, leading to one of the men pulling out a gun and shooting the victim in the upper body.

The 33-year-old was identified as a suspect and arrested on Feb. 11. He has been charged with assault and aggravated assault.

Police also said Thursday that the owner of the lounge, a 48-year-old man, was there at the time of the shooting. He was arrested and faces a charge of obstruction, police said in a news release.

While police did not identify the business by name, a spokesperson for the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba confirmed the provincial regulator suspended Moonlight Lounge's liquor licence on Feb. 14.

That order will remain in effect until further notice, the spokesperson said in a written statement to CBC. She declined to comment further due to an active police investigation.
