Classes will resume Tuesday at the University of Winnipeg following a technical issue that cancelled classes Monday.

In an email sent to staff and students late Monday afternoon, the university says the "service outage is related to a cyber incident that was discovered on Sunday," and impacted a variety of systems.

"Upon discovering the incident, the university took immediate steps to secure its network, which included making a variety of services unavailable. We are now in the process of restoring the interrupted services, investigating the incident, and better understanding its impact," the email says.

Although regular campus Wi-Fi is not yet available, anyone on campus will be able to access the internet using a temporary network.

The university is working with expert partners to resolve the incident and have reported it to the authorities, according to the email sent to students and staff.

The outage and cancellation of classes also affected U of W Collegiate, a preparatory high school on campus for grades 9-12.

Further updates will be shared, as they become available, on the campus service update page and UW Safe App.
