Manitoba Tories say it's not too late to reverse course on Bipole
PC leader Brian Pallister says $600M already spent, all but $80M not recoverable
Manitoba's opposition Progressive Conservatives say Manitoba Hydro is the province's gem, but questions about the shelved Conawapa dam and the millions already spent on a proposed transmission line are darkening its shine.
The Tories said they asked for a line-by-line breakdown of the $400 million the government spent on the Conawapa dam before suspending the project last summer.
But PC Leader Brian Pallister said that request has been denied, with the government claiming no breakdown had ever been done.
He also repeated calls to re-route the $4.6 billion dollar Bipole III transmission line down the east side of the province instead of the west, saying it would save millions.

Citing Manitoba hydro sources, Pallister also said his party has learned that less than $80 million of the approximately $600 million paid out so far is not recoverable.
He said it would be worth losing the $80 million if it would prevent the completion of a bad project.
