Manitoba's police watchdog is investigating the complaint of a man who says he was assaulted by one or more police officers.
The man says the assault happened on April 6 and he notified the Brandon Police Service. The service in turn alerted Manitoba's Independent Investigation Unit, which investigates serious incidents involving police in the province.
It's unclear how many police officers, if any, were involved in the assault, or which service they worked for, according to a release from the IIU on Wednesday.
Brandon police notified the IIU on Monday, the unit said.
"The investigation is at a very early stage and information continues to be gathered and assessed," the release states.
