Gerry Richard, a board member with the association, said the second annual event provides a rare opportunity for younger visually impaired Manitobans to come together and try a new sport.

"They're younger and in school, maybe teachers are afraid to let them try things," Richard, who is blind himself, told CBC News.

Organizers helped people rock climb, play basketball, do yoga, archery and more at the University of Winnipeg Recplex.
