Several Government of Manitoba websites were down Thursday due to an unplanned service disruption.

It's impacting departmental websites such as Manitoba Health as well as the Court of King's Bench online registry.

The sites went offline at some point Thursday morning and were still inaccessible shortly after 4 p.m.

A provincial spokesperson says the cause of the interruption is related to network and server infrastructure.

The spokesperson said via email there is no indication the issue is related to a cyberattack.

However, government websites were down in several other jurisdictions Thursday, including SaskatchewanYukonPrince Edward Island and Nunavut.

Saskatchewan, P.E.I. and Yukon all said cyberattacks were behind their shutdowns.

Officials in those jurisdictions say attackers are using the so-called denial-of-service, or DDoS tactic, which generate artificial website traffic to overwhelm servers.

The officials in those jurisdictions said the attacks have not compromised data but may hinder transactions at government service centres.

The Manitoba government spokesperson said support teams are still working on restoring services but did not say when they expect to be back online.
