Gio Navarro has written a clever and funny script about a trio of role-playing gamers and their characters.
A split stage lets us see the living room table and the magical land where the warriors pursue their quest. The gamers - well two of them - would drive any serious Dungeon Master to swallow his 30-sided dice.
The imaginary warriors Skylar, Fran K'smom and Bill (Bee-I'll) treat us toΒ their own interpretations of the drunk voices in their heads directing theΒ conquests.
It has many rough edges as a new work and the cast must decide whether to wait out laughter or not. I recommend not - it will improve pacing. The dual scene slowΒ motion battle is inspired and I especially liked the fireball.
Alas, whateverΒ in-joke humour the monkey might have supplied was lost on me. This show is worth honing.
