Police in western Manitoba are investigating the death of a two-year-old boy from the Waywayseecappo First Nation.

The RCMP's serious crimes unit was contacted on Saturday to help the Dakota Ojibway Police Service investigate the death, police stated in a news release Monday.

The RCMP did not release any further details about the case, including the name of the deceased.

Waywayseecappo is located about 150 kilometres northwest of Brandon, Man.
